Second Bull Run, is a very difficult battle to do deep research on. The official records are a huge help, but as far as Union flags/Artillery captured very few mentioned. The Confederates claimed to have captured thirty artillery pieces. Between the official records, books on the battle, regimental histories, etc. I have found 26 of the 30 pieces. Very rare that Union battery commanders did not admit what they lost. Tough battle to work on.
