Baldwin for 12 months, recorded as Color Sergt. on Regimental Return of June, 1861, captured at Ft. Donelson February 16, 1862, transferred to Camp Douglas, Ill. prison, sent to Vicksburg, Miss. for exchange, sick, September 2, 1862, recorded on September 22, 1862 as sick in hospital at Clinton, Miss., captured near Nashville December 15, 1864, sent to Camp Douglas via Louisville, Ky., arriving December 23, discharged June19,1865, resident of Lownes Co., Miss.

Note, his file contains 3 letters attesting to his conduct as Color Bearer at Ft. Donelson in addition to his brother’s recommendation of his promotion to Ensign.
