It wasn't connected to Pillow....the 90 yr old woman telling me about it married into the Pillow descendants. She married I believe the great grandson of CS General. They use the same names generation after generation, (Gideon and Jerome) and I am not up on Pillow genealogy, but it was his descendants who lived in Helena, and still do. Anyway, the supposed flag was found in a hillside cave in vicinity of Battery C according to the story. Helena has the same type of loess/silt hills and ridges as Vicksburg...actually they are part of the same geologic event and same geographic feature. It was supposedly found in one of these dug in hillside caves. I know the Missouri Troops were definitely in that area and had more blue flags, but I still wonder if the cloth could have survived all these years in our hot and cold vey humid climate, even if "in the dry"
