Have recently seen the Commission Pennant of the CSS Alabama
displayed at the Mobile History Museum.
It is 70 feet long and contains 27 stars.
Of the four other known (to me) Confederate Commission pennants,
none are over 15 feet long and none has more than 11 stars.
Besides the Madaus booklet not much is written about these pennants.
Does anyone have a better working knowledge of them than myself?
Although the provenance of the supposed Alabama pennant appears
to be solid. The physical characteristics have me in doubts.
Any opinions?
