Color Corporal, 4th MO Inf Regt, CSA

Wallace W. Stone, a 22 year old farmer from Henry Co, MO, served as Pvt and 1st Lt, Co D, 2nd Cav Regt, 8th Division, Missouri State Guard, and was engaged at Drywood and Lexington, MO.

Enlisted as a Pvt, for the war, in Co E, in what became the 4th MO Inf Regt, at Springfield, MO, on 25 Dec 1861. Engaged at Elkhorn. Detailed to color guard in Aug, 1862, as a corporal. Engaged at Iuka and Corinth, MS. Mortally wounded by a shot to the head at Corinth on 3 Oct 1862 and died at Iuka on 10 Oct 1862.
