Re: Lone Star Flag
In Response To: Lone Star Flag ()

George,

Sadly, due to the massacre of Fannin's men at Goliad, this flag has not been seen since. It is not listed in the Mexican Army flags books that I have although another Georgia company flag is. The latter was from the Columbus Coon Hunters who went to the Republic of Texas in 1842 to fight in their border war with Mexico and was captured by Mexican troops along with two other flags (also in this book). The flag has the state Coat of Arms on one side and a knight in armor on the other. Quite pretty.

The Texas Republic claimed the Rio Grande River as the border and Mexico claimed the Nueces River.

There were several other Lone Star flags used in the Texas War of Independence including for a unit from Zanesville, Ohio.
