Yancey Rifles, 11th AL Inf.

Shenandoah Herald, Woodstock, Shenandoah County, VA, 23 October 1908, Vol. 91, No. 43, pg. 3, col. 4

"The thirteenth annual convention Va. Div. U.D.C. met at Historic Manassas on the fourteenth of this month. . ."
The ladies ". . .went to Groveton, and were entertained at lunch. . . Across the mantel in the house was hung a faded silk Secession flag with "Yancey Rifles" embroidered on one side; on the other "Come with it when the battle is done, Or never from the field return."
"It had been made by the ladies and sent the day before the battle to Lt. Faith, Co. H 11th Ala. who left it at the house. He was killed and the company gave it to Mrs. Dogan who was living there."
