Gregg,
Sorry for my tardy response. The 24th/25th Consolidated TX was next to the Columbia Pike on the far left of Granbury's line and the 7th TX was to the right of the 24th&25th. When Granbury's brigade followed Conrad's and Lane's brigades through and over the Union earthworks next to the pike entrance there was a large portion of the line which had been abandoned by the 100th OH and 50th OH. So I believe Major William A Taylor 24th&25th TX and the 7th TX under Capt Brown quickly penetrated up the pike and into the Carter House outbuildings. The rapid response by the Union 16th KY and 12th KY probably caused Granbury's men to deflect somewhat to the west of the pike where they could have encountered regiments from Opdycke's brigade i.e. 24th WI. Records indicate that Major W A Taylor was captured at Franklin but no indication he was wounded.

I found 5 other majors who I thought could have encountered the 24th WI - Major Richard Whitely 2nd Georgia Balt Sharpshooters ( Gist ), Major James Deaderick 19th TN (Carter ), Major Henry Hampton 4th&5th TN ( Strahl ), Major Robert Payne 33rd TN ( Strahl )and Major W Jere Crook ( Gordon ). But for one reason or another ruled out most of them.

Trying to figure out the flags issued to John Gregg's Tennessee regiments has been nearly impossible. His first appearance with the regiment was around Dec 3rd, 1863 during the time Price's Corps was pulling back to the Yalobusha River line. The only possible clue I have received concerning the 3rd TN banner issued during that time came from a reenactment group during the 150th Raymond Event. I was told the 3rd TN Banner issued in Oct - Nov, 1863 was similar to the 16th TN Cassidy Style 3. I don't have a reference for this so I consider it as a possibility but needs confirmation. I understand this style flag was never issued to Hardee's Corps after Shiloh but used as a replacement as needed. What do you think?

Thank you very much for your comments and observation concerning the Vicksburg flags.

Tom
