Gregg,
This is very interesting because based on the Franklin OR reports and regimental histories Opdycke's Brigade captured 12 confederate flags and Reilley's Brigade ( 100th OH, 104th OH, 12th KY, 16th KY which were located just to the west of the Columbia Pike ) captured 22 confederate flags. I know that some of Opdycke's Brigade regiments ( 74th&88th Consolidated IL ) crossed west of the Pike to support Reilley's Bbrigade but the 24th WI, 125th OH, and 36th IL attacked the men of Brown's and Cleburne's Divisions - especially Granbury, Gordon, and Strahl - on the west side and in front of the Carter House. So very possible the 24th WI and 7th TX were fighting in the same area.

I agree with you concerning the 15 star ANV banners at Vicksburg. Makes sense. I have been trying to figure out the flags issued to John Gregg's Tennessee Brigade after their reorganization at Clinton, MS and posting in October, 1863 near Coldwater in the northern part of the state. But have had not been able to find pictures or histories on all of their flag designs. The 3rd TN is the only one I have found and it seems to be an ANV banner so I am assuming the other regiments in the brigade may have used similar designs. Based on your first post it sounds like the 7th TX was presented its flag after it was attached to Gregg's Brigade at Port Hudson. Good stories!
