In late May 1861 the "Southern Confederates"
were presented a flag by the local ladies.
A long article appears in the West Tennessee
Whig containing the speeches given on that occasion.
However, the microfilm of said newspaper at the State Archives in Nashville is so bad as
to render the article unreadable.
Can anyone provide a readable copy?
The article appears in the June 7, 1861 issue
of the newspaper referred to.
