Capt. A. W. Hodges Co. D,. 43rd Tenn. left Decatur, Tenn. for Knoxville. A beautiful banner was presented to the company on their departure by the Ladies of that section of the county. The Spirit of Kentucky.
A correspondent with General Bragg’s army, writing of the
spirit of Kentucky, and the reception given our army, says:
The spirit of the women is irrepressible. Our troops are
everywhere met with smiles and tears of the women and
they display the Southern flag and wave their handkerchiefs
wherever we go. I have no doubts of the Southern
sympathies of Kentucky.
