9th Virginia Cavalry flag in Appomattox

Hello,

The ANV flag of the 9th Virginia Cavalry regiment, which was carried by them in the last cavalry charge of the regiment in the Battle of Appomattox, will be on display at the Appomattox Court House National Park for the 150th Anniversary events as well as for months afterwards. This was the last flag used by the regiment.

This flag was saved from surrender by color bearer Walter Callis and remained in his family until recently. The flag appeared at regimental reunions for many years.

This is a great chance to see this historic flag, which is being loaned by the collector that owns it, as it will only be displayed for several months. I hope that I get the chance to see it myself.

Just a head's up.
