Be aware that the reenactors that Horwitz involved himself with for that book were considered by many to be "fringe" individuals. That is, not at all representative of most reenactors. Of course, it's very difficult to come up with an "average" reenactor because there are so many different impressions and so many different reasons for being in the hobby. But Horwitz should have done some more "sampling" to get a larger view.
