Interesting. I would have thought that Norfolk, Va.; Mobile, Ala., and Charleston, S.C., would have been major ports for immigrants like New Orleans was. And since those 3 states contributed large numbers of soldiers to the ANV, I assumed the number of foreign-born soldiers would have been bigger.
