Good information. If you check immigrant records back far enough you will see that Americans, north and south, were mostly English stock with pockets of Scots and Irish and Germans tossed in.

Southern society patterned itself after English society in many ways; English literature was huge in the south before the war. The Celtic "attack and die" nonsense is just that - nonsense!
