Greg,
Shortly after the new corps (Polk’s Amy of Mississippi) joined the Army of Tennessee, May, 1864, a system of Stewart’s Corps HQ three color command flags similar to the flags of Hardee’s and Hood’s Corps but they were divided vertically, with a white hoist. Brigade flags were divided diagonally. This system was replaced in November, 1864, Brigade, white ground, blue cross - Division, blue ground, white cross. Corps red ground, white cross and Army, red ground, blue cross.
The only red, white and red flags in the ANV that survive, were captured from a hospital train and field hospital, late 1864.
Happy Trails!
