Please excuse me if this has already been posted here before but in doing some research I stumbled across a very interesting article entitled "Torn and Tattered Flags of '65 - Silent, Pathetic War Story Told by 287 Bay State Banners at the State House." The article comes from the Boston (Mass.) Journal of Sunday, January 14, 1900 and covers a full page and a half beginning in Section 4, Page 5 and continuing on to Page 6. I found it to be a very interesting article and think it would be for anyone studyting Federal flags.
