7th Regiment Mississippi Infantry Flag restored

This flag was the replacement flag made after the battered flag from Shiloh was sent to the Governor by Col. William H. Bishop, 7th Mississippi. It was the flag of the "Immortal Seventh" from Munfordville, KY until replaced at Dalton with the Johnston pattern flag in spring 1864. The flag had been identified as the 7th Miss. Battn. for years until we connected the correspondence from the owners (Gen. Charles Dahlgren's family). With financial support from the McMains Family foundation, the flag is now restored and safe at the Tennessee State Museum.
