The Civil War Flags Message Board

Re: Writings of "Ben Ford" on guns

Phillip,

I DID read the sources. You FAIL to explain HOW the Federals knew that this was a brigade or division flag when they goofed those IDs throughout the war!

I have no doubt that the flag is period but I also know that IT WAS NEVER SOLD AS A FLAG OF RUCKER!!!!!!! I know who sold the flag. I even discussed the flag with him while he had it. That "ID" came only from you. You are an Army of One in this ID.

There is NO proof that this flag was ever seen by Rucker, used by Rucker, farted on by Rucker, fawned over by Rucker. Any evidence that this flag was with him in simply non-existent!

So, now it's my turn. SHOW the evidence that this flag was with Rucker, used by Rucker, farted on by Rucker, whatever with Rucker and that it was taken at the Battle of the Barricades. PROVE that the flag taken with him was NOT the flag of the 12th Tennessee Cavalry CSA when the Federals constantly got the "brigade" and "division" flag ID wrong throughout the war!

Unless you can do that with great detail you have nothing but an unknown Civil War flag. Period! Put up or shut up!

We are all awaiting this evidence with great interest. And I mean primary sources that describe the flag to a "T" and that Rucker ordered it, used it, etc. What Rucker letters do you care to show us? What diary accounts from the 7th Alabama Cavalry do you offer as evidence that this flag was there? What accounts from the 12th Tennessee Cavalry CSA do you offer that describes this flag since he was right in front of this regiment and they undoubtedly saw him?

PS - You do this crap all the time Phillip. Someone or a group of someones challenge you and you run away from this board. You do not respect at all that many of us have done years of flag research. So what if we have not owned actual flags, which you also seem to enjoy thumping the rest of us with. How many years have you spent in archives, libraries, scrolling period newspapers, etc. like some of us have? Just because many of us have not had the money to own a Civil War flag does NOT mean that we are not valid flag historians.
