I have been collecting civil war brass gilted brass flagstaff eagles or battleflag eagle finials with the help of a knowledgable collector. I am looking to expand my current knowledge on them and was wondering if anyone has any pictures or information on seeing them in any museums with period flags or in any civil war period pictures. Per an 1858 NY regulation, they were required to have a gilt flag eagle on all flagstaffs. Any information would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!
