Very informative. It appears most of those methods are still in use except maybe the tacking. I have been studying photos of extant flags with ties to determine how they were "tie" to their poles. Nothing conclusive but it seems they just tied them with a bow as you would do with a shoe string. To me that seems risky if the bow comes undone as they always do, you would lose your flag. In any case this is not exactly groundbreaking historial research is it. Again, thanks.
