Just corresponded with the CHS in reference to your question. Their response was that they wished they had the resources to digitize their entire collection, which they estimate at 22 million artifacts and documents, but at the present time, they simply cannot do it. I'm paying the photographer's fee to have the picture of the 60th AL flag done plus the purchase cost of an 8"x10" photo. $120 total, well worth the expense to me.
