Union Flags Captured at Williamsburg Rd

The following passage is from the book: Trudeau, Noah Andre. The Last Citadel: Petersburg, Virginia, June 1864 - April 1865. Boston, MA: Little Brown and Company, 1991. While not 100% positive, Trudeau's Notes section has much to be desired, I believe the reference to be "James H. Estes, 'Second Fair Oaks' (in the National Tribune for August 5, 1909)". Estes was also in the 118th NY. The passage describes the action at Williamsburg Rd, on October 27 from 1:00 to dark.

"The 5th Maryland, 10th New Hampshire and 96th New York lost their colors," recounted one of the fleeing soldiers, "those of the 118th being saved by our tall colorbearer, Jo. Hastings, who ran with them as fast as his long legs could carry him." [Most likely Joseph A. Hastings of the 118th New York.]
