You did not specify where "here" is (where you live). I am assuming Alabama. There are three Hocutts in the 41st AL: Agrippa J., Festus, and Manasses. There is a Hocutt in Lumsden's AL Battery, but his name begins with an F. Is your A.J. "Agrippa J."? If so, you can order his brief record from the link at the top of this site, where you can also order any surviving pension application, which might shed further light on his War for Southern Independence career. By the way, the three referenced 41st AL Hocutts all joined at Tuscaloosa. By the way, Grady Howell's fabulous index of all known MS CS soldiers does list an A.J. Hocutt as being in Hoskin's (Brookhaven) Battery, but I could not find him in the microfilmed service records. Hope this helps! -- Jim Huffman
