True. The War Department had little intreats in them until they were returned to the States. In 1962, the flags received by Virginia at the MoC, the flags were still in the same cartons that the War Department shipped then in in the early 1900’s. The real work on ID’s didn’t start until, maybe late 60’s early 70’s, much thanks to Howard Madus and a few others. The movie “Glory” and the computer age got things really rolling.

That was a real nicely sewn 2nd National flying over Fort Wagner in the movie “Glory” wasn’t it? Steve Hill made the flags for the 54th in the movie.
