The Confederates called the battle "Wyerman's Mill, Tennessee". Aka "Gibson Mill" (The Union would call it).

The very next day (22 Feb, 1864), "Half a mile in the rear of the enemy, the 8th Va Cav captured 175 more Yanks". I do not know if they were the 11th Tenn Cav (Union) but some of them had to have been. If 75 escaped and the next day 175 were captured, that would indicate another Union regiment or companies were there as well.>>>>>>>>

"Tennesseans In The Civil War has the engagement as being on Feb. 24th (it was the 22nd) and that LTC David commanded only the 1st battalion of the 11th Tennessee Cavalry (US) in this fight. The Union report says that four officers and 60 men escaped from the Confederate trap. I cannot find anything about their regimental flags being taken there but company guidons indeed might have been.

This was not the 3rd Tennessee Cavalry (US) in that fight. That regiment was down dealing with Forrest at this time. The regiment involved was the 3rd Tennessee Infantry (US). Their report for this engagement was only 2 killed and 22 lost as prisoners.
