There was a previous posting by Greg Biggs about the 8th Louisiana flag at Gettysburg that mentioned battles being written on the stars. A Philadelphia newspaper was mentioned. Also, we know it was an 8th Louisiana flag due to one of the accounts by Peter Young stating "I "...[I] found the rebels up to and among our guns....I ran forward, revolver in hand, shot down the rebel color bearer (8th La. Tiger Regt. as it proved by the inscription on the vile rag) and sprang for the colors"....

I had never heard the battles being printed on the stars. Greg, could you advise me of the title and issue of the newspaper?
