In Response To: Butler's Revengers ()

According to "Personel of the Civil War", by William Amann, "Butlers Revengers" were company A of the Miles Legion of Louisiana Cavalry.

"Guide to Louisian Confederate Military Units 1861-1865" by the late Arthur W Bergeron lists company A as being commanded by B.F. Bryan but does not give a company name, merely listing them as being from East Baton Rouge. The Miles Legion cavalry was also known as Cage's Battalion, after acting Major John B Cage. This unit may also have been refered to as the 10th Louisiana Cavalry Battalion but this is probably an error. In late 1863 Cage's Battalion was consolidated with other companies from Mississippi and Louisiana to form the 14th Confederate Cavalry Regiment.

Captain B.F.Bryan also appears as commander of Co A (from East Baton Rouge), Ogdens Battalion which was a temporary battalion organised in 1864 so this may be the same company.
