I have observed in many recent posts that several 1st National flags do not have stars on the obverse side of the canton ie. Island No 10, G.Smith headquarter flag etc...
Why is it that purported original 1st Nat. flags of the period do not always have stars on both sides? One can say that some form of crest or motto or other device was intended to be placed in this area or that they the creators of these flags were perfectly content with having them on the one side. Any ryhme or reason to this?
Interesting when someone brings a suspect flag to the group for review the first comment is I bet there is no stars on the obverse yet we have evidence of several original examples which don't either.
