Does anyone have any information on what style of national color the 42nd Massachusetts may have been carrying in January 1863? My re-enacting group is involved in preparations to hold a re-enactment of the Battle of Galvestion this coming January 9 & 10 and would like to represent the 42nd as acurately as possible. I've done just enough research into Federal flags to realize this one could be one of several different patterns, depending on which contractor manufactured it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
