Fine post, as we have learned to expect from you. However, I don't believe you intended your last line to read, "nothing less than irrefutable evidence." If I understand what you wrote earlier, that's not possible nearly as often as we'd like, such as your Morgan flag. Cynthiana KY is the only wartime event in which Morgan and Burbridge encountered one another on the battlefield. The evidence is compelling, but it's still circumstantial.

Again, if I understand, that's what we'd don't have with the Rucker "brigade" flag -- some identification linking it with the flag captured in the cavalry action which ended the Battle of Nashville. To be more specific, the Morgan flag is directly linked to General Burbridge and included a reference to being captured from General Morgan. Something having at least that much substance about the Rucker flag's origin (who had it after the war and how did they acquire it) would be helpful.
