If the Storrs flag originated in Mississippi, it could not have been in the hands of members of the 7th Alabama Cavalry until the end of September or (more likely) early October of 1864. The reverse of the flag is supposed to include the motto, "Ruckers Brigade", which could not have been accurate before October 1864. On October 3, 1864, the regiment was sent to Cherokee AL. The regiment was with Col. Rucker during the Johnsonville Raid.
