I also have an 1839 harpers ferry musket, and it has similarities to the 1816. One glaring difference is the barrel is only 29.5 inches, with 2 barrel bands. I believe it to be a musketoon model 1839, the only example of which is in the springfield armory, and has pictures on its website. This also has a belgian cone conversion. Any help or knowledge would be greatly appreciated. I am also sure it's not fake, because it was brought home from the civil war by a distant uncle and has been in my family since. Thanks
