The 1859 Sharp's and Hankins carbine was a .52 caliber rimfire not a center fire. It had a 19" barrel, and was manufactured in Philadelphia, Pa between 1862-1865. The serial # was on the rear tang and on the inside load lever. The 1859 Sharp's and Hankins Navy Model had a 24" barrel and the frame area was leather covered.
