The Arms & Equipment in the Civil War Message Board

Re: Twenty-second Ohio Infantry

I have heard that some Ohio Infantry units had solid brass cast US buckles. The one I'm talking about was found in Arkansas a few years ago and was near a camp of the Twenty-second Ohio Inf. Doing some research I just found out that the 54th Ohio Inf. was camped there also. I know they are rare and I had never seen or heard of one until about ten years. Most Civil War buckle books don't even have them listed. I was just trying to make the Ohio connection, but it may be tied to a total different Union unit. I still would like to know who was wearing such a rare US buckle in Arkansas, Ohio or not.
