Question about bummers/foragers in Sherman's march to the sea, then into South Carolina. I would suspect that the soldiers started out properly attired in Union Blue when they left Atlanta. However, had they added civilian clothing/Confed clothing etc. as their Union Uniforms wore out? I thought I read somewhere, where I don't remember, that they ended up wearing a mish-mash of clothing during their 'foraging' times. Thanks for any direction provided.
