Gen. Joesph Shelby's spurs
Does anyone know what happen to the fancy silver spurs given by Gen. Marmaduke men to Gen. J.O. Shelby at Batesville, Arkansas, I think it was the summer of 1863, but not sure. In return Gen. Shelby's men gave Gen. John S. Marmaduke a fine (?gray?) horse. This all took place at a camp in Batesville, Arkansas, where on Sundays there was a parade and the town would come out and watch a "mock battle" held between Gen. Marmaduke and Gen. Shelby's men. Kinda sounds like re-enactments have been around a long time. My question is are the spurs in private hands, a museum or lost to history.
