Re: Company D, 10th Arkansas Infantry

I have, more information on the 10th. They were in the Kentucky Campaign before Shiloh, after arriving at Corinth, assigned to Hardees, The fought at the Battle of Shiloh, and carried the field each time, until they went up against the Last line of Defense of Grant. The action was described of the regiment taking heavy fire and casualties lost momentum, and the assault "petered out' in confusion. they were involved in some of the rear guard action covering the withdrawal to Corinth, they were again reassigned Division and Brigade, Winter of 1862 to 1863 the regiment was at New Orleans. They then were engaged in operations and skirmish near Baton Rouge, LA. Skirmish at Bayou Bonfonca, LA and Skirmish at Plains Store, LA.
Involved in in operations and assaults and operations at Vicksburg, again moved to Port Hudson. Involved in several assaults, skirmishes, during the operations at and near Point Hudson. The Regiment was surrendered at Port Hudson, the entire Regiment was sent to Military Prison, until exchanged.

I hope this information is helpful to you, and any other Researchers of the 10th Arkansas:

The 10th Arkansas Regiment was officially enlisted in the Confederate Army on July 16 1861 at Springfield, Conway County, Arkansas. the company was recruited in June 1861. What town in White County, the Company was actually recruited before travelling to Springfield, I have not identified yet. If I find it, I will post it in another response.
