In searching for ancestors' involvement in the ACW, I came across this forum group. Surnames associated with the Trans-Mississippi theater I am researching are Dewitt, McCabe, Mears. There is information found here that I have not seen on any of the other websites I have visited. Due to the events of renaming streets, bases, etc. and the removals of exquisite works of art related to the civil war, I was prompted several months ago to join the SCV through Camp Mchenry #2310, Broken Arrow. Civil War sites I have enjoyed visiting in this area would be Wilson's Creek, Pea Ridge, Prairie Grove, Honey Springs, Cabin Creek. Hopefully, this next year I can make it to a few of the lesser-known historical marker sites existing in the "Indian Territory". If other users of this forum would care to suggest some sites to recommend visiting that would be appreciated.
