I have tried many times to place a Marker for my Great Grandfather. My GREAT GRANDFATHER is buried in an unmarked grave in Columbus, Mississippi. He died of his wounds and is interned in the Friendship Cemetery. VA refused to provide a Marker due to UNMARKED grave. I was not able to place one in the Cemetery in Memory of John W. Shoptaw member of First Arkansas Cavalry Company F.
I purchased a marker in California, shipped to my Neice in Texas, and she installed it in Oakland Cemetery in Russellville, Arkansas. The Sons of Confederate Veterans will be preforming a Dedication Ceremony, May 24 at 6: pm.
