Re: Attn: Brent Tipton or anyone

I agree with your thoughts on the names. My only point is why remove the names of Confederates and have a USS Abe Lincoln, who is a known racist. Or a Navy ship named after Harvey Milk?

I served aboard the USS Boxer, LPH 4. Never thought about the ship name until just now.

From this website https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Boxer_%28CV-21%29 I see--- USS Boxer (CV/CVA/CVS-21, LPH-4) was one of 24 Essex-class aircraft carriers of the United States Navy, and the fifth ship to be named for HMS Boxer. She was launched on 14 December 1944 and christened by the daughter of a US Senator from Louisiana.

Now the HMS Boxer-- From this site there are several British ships with the name Boxer. Still I have no idea which one the US ship is named after. Now we have a LHD named Boxer which replaced the NPHs and LSDs.

HHHHUUUumm I always thought it was named after the Boxer rebellion!!!
