Re: More reasons why the WWBTS was not about slave

George,
You and I are on the same team in regards to Slavery was not the reason for the War. First and foremost it was to preserve the Union. It is a problem when you just throw out documents and expect people to view it the way the do. Whether spoken or written or not your opinion is your interpretation. I fully heartily agree in the beginning, that the War for the North was to preserve the Union. I full heartily agree that for the South they felt pushed out of their own Country and fighting for what they believe to be the way of the Constitution and they wanted to maintain the balance between the Regions. Checks and balances. Their was a perception, whether real or not that the North was trying to seize control of Congress and line their pockets at the Expense and detriment of the South.

Brent,

Actually what brought on this discussion is the fact you stated slavery caused the war. You then went on to tell me that my documents of info was faulty and biased. You cited several sources none of which would trump what I posted and what was supposed to be the cherry on top of your post, you cited your degrees.

It is no problem with these docs I have posted, either you can dispute them with factual documents or you can accept them as true and correct. they are what the major players of the war said and did. These are not my opinions I have not posted a opinion at all, I let the docs speak for themselves.

I repeat the only true cause of the war was the "collection of revenue" and the invasion of the South.
