The history that we were taught and actual history are two different animals.

For example I was taught (and I bet that most of you were too) that George Washington was the first President of the United States. Well that is not quite true. The United States existed for 12 years under the Articles of Confederation and Continental Congress and had 14 "Presidents of the United States" prior to that United States failing and the writing of our present Constitution in 1787. George Washington was the first President of the United States under that Constitution and we have had 46 presidents since. So we really have had 60 "Presidents of the United States", since 1776.

So you see by leaving just one little factoid you change the whole perspective of what was going on in any event of history.
