There was a lengthy articular written at the time about the cleaning of that Cemetery by the Sons of Confederate Veterans in the Pine Bluff Commercial News paper that is now out of business. That article even hit the A.P. wire service and wound up in other papers including one out in Arizona. But nobody is interested in History in Pine Bluff unless it has something to do with the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff/Arkansas Mechanical and Normal College. Why in building the Football Stadium of that college they even dug up a Black/Slave cemetery and moved some of the graves. It was our same SCV camp that marked 37 of the Graves that they moved for the project. They did nothing except to do just enough to say they moved the Jane Oliver Cemetery from the "Old Wright Plantation" farm, which was the site of Camp Wright of Walker's Texas Brigade during the winter of 1863, in order to build their New Stadium. I hope the place is haunted ever football game they play there.
