RE: USCT Burials

I am still trying to locate a source of burial records. I know that after the war, the US Army, Went through the State trying to locate, US soldeirs who died and were buried in remote locations across the State. Does anyone have any idea if the records exist, and where I might acess them regarding what towns and locations they went to, how many bodies unidentified, how many identified that were moved to the National Cemetery, looking at Searcy, Augusta, Batesville, Salem, Smithville, Jacksonport, Powhatan. Salem.
