Re: 160th Anniversary of the Smithville Skirmish

Bryce,
Rhonda Kohl, in her Book "Prairie Boys Go to War, mentions the fight." later in the War, there were several skirmishes on the Spring River. notably at Salem, 3rd Iowa Calvary vs Coleman, and Martin's Creek and Morgan's Mill. Salem was in Fulton County, Martin's Creek, also known as Red Cliff, were in then Lawrence County, now Presently Sharp County. Martin's Creek, and Morgan's Mill is only a few miles from the Smithville Skirmish, Osborne's Creek and Strawberry River are both in the vicinity of the McKinney Farm in North Lebanon Township. Severalere skirmishes occurred on the Black River in Randolph County, Notably Pittman's Ferry, the 5th was involved in that skirmish as well.|
