I believe the lower enlisment age allowed was 17 which required parents permission.

Solomon enlisted February 1862 which would make him 12. Highly doubtful that he had the maturity at this time to fake his age.

S. W. Rollims [sic], Private, Company A/Torbett’s, 19th Regiment Arkansas Infantry, enlisted February 15, 1862, deserted August 25,1863, captured at Little Rock, Arkansas September 10, 1863, received at Military Prison, Alton, Illinois September 29, 1864, released and discharged on taking the Amnesty Oath February 9, 1865
