Re: 2nd Arkansas Infantry company E

The Perryville info rang a bell....this could be him. A James Hamilton enlisted in ComB Hawthorne/Cocke’s Ark Inf in July 1862 at Perryville, Ark. it is very likely he came home from hospital on a sick furlough as his 11th Ark infomsays he was home on sick furlough up tomSep 22 1862. As far as they knew that is where he was, so he may have re-enlisted in order to stay in Arkansas. It’s a pretty good chance this is him. Will have to look at census to make sure not another James Hamilton out there in Perry Co before yours moved up that way from South Ark.
