Thanks George, The tag has an eagle motif at the top with a banner or ribbon in its beak, kinda looks Union, but also could be a Texas Poindexter. The back side has numbers and words on it, but haven't solved the strange layout of either yet. The condition of the brass tag is not good. Wondering if it is a local piece or just a soldier passing through Des Arc having it made. It is hand stamped but they used nice clear stamps spacing is a little off in places. I'm not a member of the Data Base yet. I'll slowly and carefully clean to maybe see more details. Des Arc was a busy place during the war.
