James R. Montgomery, Private, Capt. Wm. D. Holder’s Co. 17th Regiment Mississippi Volunteers*, enlisted June 1, 1861 at Corinth, Miss. by W. D. Holder for 12 months, recorded absent on furlough March 1, 1865, on enlistment a 20 year old Single, Farmer, born in Alabama, resident of Ellistown, Miss.

* This company was successive designated as Captain Holder’s Company, Mississippi Volunteers, and as Captain Holder’s Company and Company C (Quitman Greys), 17th Regiment Mississippi Infantry
